Global testing provider Element Materials Technology Group has boosted its European medical technologies team with two key appointments.
Former Innovate UK health innovation lead Dr Michael Kipping joins as director of medical technologies, with the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency’s Nicole Small becoming senior manager of the medical technology team.
Kipping was responsible for Innovate UK’s primary grant funding program for UK health and life science businesses and worked with Government, business and academia to develop the proposal for a UK Centre of Excellence for Regulatory Science & Innovation (UK CERSI).
Small previously led change, educational and operational programs to ensure the safety of devices driven by benefit-risk assessments. She also headed the MHPR’s COVID-19 response to secure the UK supply chain’s protective medical devices and PPE.
Matt Hopkinson, EVP of EMEAA at Element, said: “Their medical device expertise across clinical, technical, regulatory and business applications will be an incredible asset. They will act as an essential bridge between Element’s world-class testing and assurance capabilities and the manufacturers, navigating highly complex and evolving requirements.
“A core part of our strategy includes the development of our medical end-market, and building our team of people with specific experience in the safety and performance of medical technologies will support that growth.”
Element is one of the world’s leading global providers of testing, inspection and certification services for advanced industrial supply chains, with a team of 6,000 scientists, engineers and technicians at 200 locations across the globe.
