iSoft has won four contracts worth £2.7m for support and maintenance of its market-leading laboratory information systems (LIS)
The deals are with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, NHS Lothian, St Mary's NHS Trust at Paddington and Salford Royal Hospitals NHS Trust.
All four have agreed three-year contract extensions.
St Mary's pathology systems manager Edwin Turner says that iSoft customer support is excellent: "Our pathology system is business critical to the trust and the 24/7 support from iSoft and reliable processing is crucial in providing acute care to patients," he said.
"This shows that customers value our LIS applications and services," said Paul Richards, managing director of iSoft UK and Ireland.
"While the national programme remains a major focus and major priority for the company, it is only one component of our business.
"Non-NPfIT activities such as LIS continue to thrive both in the UK and overseas".
Isoft has 150 LIS customers in the UK, giving it a 65% share of the UK market.
There are a further 350 LIS customers in Germany, and last month the company launched its laboratory application in New Zealand.
According to a Frost and Sullivan report in August, the UK's LIS market was worth $28.1m in 2005 and by 2012 will be worth $40.9m.
The LIS market in Germany was valued at $40.4m last year but will grow to $56.3m by 2012, the report says.
It estimates the total LIS market in Europe as being worth over $210m by 2012.
"We are in a prime position to capitalise on the growth in this sector," Richards said.
In a separate deal, St Mary's has agreed a £750,000 contract to use iSoft's patient administration system and disaster recovery services until 2008.
