Envair Technology has secured a “seven figure” contract to manufacture and fit more than 100 fume cupboards for the University of East Anglia’s Lasdun Wall laboratory project.
Designed by the late Sir Denys Lasdun, renowned for buildings such as the National Theatre complex in London, UEA’s Wall complex is undergoing a substantial redevelopment to upgrade its lab and research space.
A key feature of the project will be sustainability and energy efficiency, with Envair employed by construction firm Mace as its clean air and containment partner.
Phase One of the project will include the construction of four floors of lab and teaching facilities with Envair Technology responsible for variable air volume fume cupboards and some of the disability discrimination act compliant units scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
Envair commercial manager Todd Payne said: "This will see Envair supply a variety of fume cupboards that will protect researchers and students while they work in the newly redeveloped laboratory spaces. Each unit is designed using our VAV technology to ensure safety and energy efficiency."
Envair Technology and Mace previously collaborated on the development of AstraZeneca’s Discovery Centre in Cambridge. The firm recently invested more than £1 million on expanding output capacity, including consolidating production and R&D operations in a new facility in Greater Manchester’s Heywood area.
