Resonant Clinical Solutions and Haier Biomedical have developed a new refrigerated benchtop centrifuge using a natural refrigerant, offering laboratories improved energy efficiency, faster cooling and reduced environmental impact.
Resonant Clinical Solutions and Haier Biomedical have announced the launch of the LX-60T100R, a refrigerated benchtop centrifuge designed specifically for clinical trial applications and increasingly demanding laboratory sustainability requirements.
Developed through a collaboration combining Haier Biomedical's engineering expertise with Resonant's clinical trial experience, the new instrument uses R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant instead of conventional fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases).
This significantly reduces the refrigerant's global warming potential (GWP) from more than 1,400 in some traditional systems to approximately three, helping laboratories prepare for forthcoming environmental regulations in Europe and the United States.
Alongside its environmental credentials, the LX-60T100R introduces several features designed to improve laboratory productivity and ease of use.
The centrifuge can cool from ambient temperature to 4°C in approximately five minutes, reducing preparation times. Its rotor configurations accommodate common clinical trial samples, including blood collection tubes, 15 mL and 50 mL conical tubes and containers up to 100 mL.
A seven-inch touchscreen provides intuitive operation, with glove-compatible controls, RFID rotor identification, user access management and storage for more than 1,000 operating programmes.
Additional safety features include automatic vibration and imbalance detection, rotor-life monitoring and equipment levelling checks. Operating noise can be as low as 52 dB(A), while its compact 46 kg design allows installation on standard laboratory benches without specialist mounting.
The new centrifuge is intended to help pharmaceutical companies and contract research organisations improve sample processing while meeting sustainability objectives and changing regulatory requirements.
The 220–240 V model is available immediately, with a 110 V version scheduled for introduction in early 2027. Resonant holds exclusive purchase and rental distribution rights through November 2027.
