Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) is offering the opportunity for researchers to present their own work via a poster at the 2007 annual spring conference
In the week that Buckingham Palace threw open its doors to the Punk Science exhibition, the Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) is offering the opportunity for researchers to present their own work via a poster at the 2007 Annual Spring Conference.
On 24 October 2006, more than 800 GCSE and A-level students and their teachers from across the country visited Buckingham Palace to watch a Punk Science show and view an exhibition demonstrating areas of current scientific research.
As the largest professional clinical research body in Europe, the ICR is committed to raising standards and sharing knowledge in clinical research and sees the nurturing of grass roots scientists as vital to the UK.
Anne Hewitt, general manager of the ICR said: "Events like these are a great way of encouraging the scientists of the future and we hope that these sort of initiatives will help to stimulate young people's interest in science as a career.
"The ICR is committed to encouraging the next step in this process and we have therefore included a poster session at our 2007 spring conference which provides an opportunity for young researchers to present their work in progress.
"This platform enables them to discuss their evolving project with others in the field, gain feedback and generate publicity for their work.
"Presenting a poster is, therefore, a simple way of having a presence at the conference and could also offer Masters and early-stage MPhil/PhD students an opportunity to present dissertation work or the background to their research area.
"We encourage submissions from anyone who wishes to try out their, skills in this presentation format and share their work with conference delegates".
Attendance at the conference is on track to surpass last year's event with exhibitor levels already passing the 100 mark just two months after registration opened.
