The Haydon high resolution 36000 series linear actuators, available from UK agent Servotechnic, offers a full step linear resolution down to 3.2 microns
Coupled with micro stepping from a suitable drive this unit offers extremely precise linear motion for demanding applications.
The basic motor incorporates a threaded rotor in conjunction with a (lead screw) shaft to provide linear movement in two directions.
The linear step increments are controlled by the step angle of the motor and the leadscrew pitch.
The 36000 series high resolution actuator has a step angle of 3.75deg and can be supplied with linear resolutions of 3.2 or 6.4 microns per full step.
The unit is available in three variations:.
Captive - incorporating an anti-rotation device and offer a virtually plug and play solution.
Non-captive - incorporating a travelling screw with the need for the designer to prevent rotation of the screw in the application in order to achieve linear movement.
External linear - the load to be moved is attached to a travelling nut external to the motor.
The units are available as standard with 5V and 12V windings and anti-backlash devices are also offered where backlash needs to be eliminated totally.
Linear thrust force is up to 80N at 100 full steps per second.
Applications for the actuators include office automation, precision dosing pumps, focusing devices and laboratory automation.
