Laminar Medica has launched MediPhase 2-8, a new phase change material (PCM), developed to maintain a constant temperature of between +2 and +8C over extended durations for critical shipments
MediPhase 2-8 offers a considerably greater level of control over the temperature of a shipped product than has previously been achievable with conventional methods.
The specially developed PCMs used are able to maintain a consistent environmental temperature for products, in even the most challenging ambient conditions, making them ideal for use in applications where the integrity of a shipment is essential, such as in the clinical trials sector.
Additionally, the packs are able to withstand prolonged periods in chillers at +5C en route to their destination, ensuring that the product is protected at all times.
The PCMs can be supplied individually or as part of a robust and compact shipping solution, together with Laminar Medica's Meditherm insulated containers.
Due to their innovative design, the MediPhase 2-8 packs can also enable the weight of packages to be up to a third less than conventional shippers, reducing costs considerably.
As the new PCMs are able to offer a consistent temperature throughout the shipping container, greater flexibility is offered together with the ability to place temperature monitoring devices anywhere inside the package.
The PCM packs can be re-used and are suitable for use in any season and to any destination worldwide, making them extremely cost effective.
Laminar Medica has pre-qualified two shipper designs utilising these PCMs, with a 3.0ltr and 13.6ltr payload capacity.
However, the technology is scalable, and bespoke solutions can be designed to meet any shipping requirement.
