The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) has announced a collaboration with the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA) and is holding its first joint symposium in February 2008
The ICR and EMWA symposium, entitled 'Publishing clinical trials: ethics and the pharmaceutical industry', is being held on Wednesday 27 February at the Hammersmith Novotel, UK.
The meeting is focusing on the ethical minefield of publishing clinical trials results, a hot topic in the industry today.
The delegates and speakers will discuss the obligations placed on the pharmaceutical industry by patients wishing to have more and more information about their medicines and how the industry is compelled to improve its transparency regarding clinical research programmes and understand their ethical requirements.
John Hooper, ICR's chief executive, commented: "This promises to be a great event.
"We've already had a high number of clinical research professionals, medical writers and publishers register for this event due to its controversial topic.
"With the wide range of speakers presenting at the symposium, it will be an exciting opportunity to hear the points of view of a panel of experts including medical writers, journal editors, academics and pharmaceutical industry managers, and to meet and share ideas with others working in this field."
