After its relaunch in November 2007, Vascoda, a German language internet portal for scientific and scholarly information, now has a new look
Vascoda's home page (in German only) has been completely revised and offers numerous improved functions and an extended information offering.
Scientists and academics want their search for professional information to be simple, quick, best value for money, and all from one source.
The Vascoda search engine focuses exclusively on academic and scholarly contents.
It combs through over 100 million datasets from over 100 databases of different providers.
"The newly designed website should make access to our continually growing offerings much easier", said Uwe Rosemann, chairman of the Vascoda association.
In total there are now more than 40 establishments involved in the construction and further development of the scientific and scholarly portal.
Vascoda is funded jointly by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium fur Bildung und Forschung - BMBF) and the German Research Foundation (Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft - DFG).
The level of funding has, in the meantime, reached the double digit millions (in euros).
The relaunch has benefited, as far as was possible, from the many user feedbacks which had been collected since the start of the portal in 2003.
"It is always our aim to provide our users with the best possible results quickly and easily", added Rosemann.
The relaunch includes numerous new functions and improvements.
The navigation has a better overview and the design is clearer.
Rosemann believes that "with the innovations which we have used, we will now be much better able to cope with the current demands of the web".
The use of modern search engine technology offers a range of user-friendly enquiry possibilities which have taken the users' search habits into account.
Vascoda enables the optimisation of your enquiry thanks to individual sorting and filtering of the results lists.
A further added feature is the different navigation offerings in the subject groups and in the subjects.
