EuroSciCon has announced the full programme for the "Gene Therapy - Systems and Applications" meeting on 24 June 2008 in Welwyn Garden City, UK
This event follows on from the successful "Exploring techniques for gene transfer" meeting held in June 2005 and will provide an overview of recent advances in the application of gene therapy.
Key speakers from around the world will be presenting at this CPD accredited meeting on a range of topics, including: Professor Dominic Wells, Imperial College, London, exploring the use of morpholino antisense oligomers in blocking mRNA translation or altering splicing of the transcript, with examples of preclinical studies.
Simon Waddington, University College, London, will discuss how foetal or neonatal gene therapy for monogenetic disorders could overcome major obstacles of intervention in the mature individual.
Professor Wells, who is also chairing the meeting, is a professor in the Gene Transfer Division of Neuroscience and Mental Health.
He has worked on transgenic mice and the development of treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy since 1990.
