ISG Jackson is first past the post, securing a circa ?3.5 million design and build project with developer Dencora to create a high integrity drug testing facility in Newmarket, UK
Two new laboratories will be created to enable eventual tenant, HFL, to significantly expand its service offering, in particular its sports supplement testing service, which will provide banned substances testing in supplements for elite athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games.
HFL, and its new parent Quotient BioResearch, is a world leader in sports doping control and drug analysis within pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, and has been providing leading-edge testing and research services for an international customer base for over forty years.
This investment in additional capacity at its purpose-built site will enable HFL to secure an increasing share of business across the burgeoning international sports sector.
Work has now commenced on site with ISG Jackson creating the new high specification facility by converting an existing stable block on site into two large state-of-the-art open plan laboratories.
The contractor will build a steel frame extension at one end of the former stable block to house a large plant room and also create new staff welfare facilities.
Additional insulation will be installed within the fabric of the building to provide controlled environmental conditions within the new laboratories, and a cold store area created.
ISG Jackson will also remodel the faandccedil;ade of the former stable block, replacing the existing stable doors with aluminium windows.
A large car park will also be formed on site, with the fast-track project scheduled for completion in October 2008.
Peter Woodnott, director of ISG Jackson's Commercial division, commented: "A broad sector focus has enabled the Commercial division to build up specialist expertise within the medical, process engineering and laboratory industries, as well as traditional office, retail and industrial sectors.
"This breadth and depth of industry experience is highly valued by clients and prospects, and has resulted in the business securing an increasing volume of quality projects with major blue chip clients."
