Anasys Instruments has won the R+D 100 award in Santa Barbara CA for VESTA, a thermal analysis tool that can perform 'point and click' micro- and nano-thermal analysis.
The VESTA enables customers to obtain phase transition temperatures with micro- and nano-scale resolution, as opposed to the sample-averaged information obtained using traditional bulk thermal analysis tools.
Dr Peter Shang, head of thermal property characterisation at Eastman Chemical's corporate analytical service laboratory, said: 'As users of the Anasys nano-TA product, we have seen the benefits of localised thermal measurements.
'However, this uses an AFM platform which is not as common or as easy to use for those in the bulk thermal analysis community.
'The VESTA provides an easy to use platform for non-AFM users to benefit from localised thermal analysis.'
