Lablynx has launched weblims.com, a division centred on web-hosted Lims (laboratory information management system) and other laboratory informatics and business software.
Weblims.com was first introduced by Lablynx in 1998 as an application service provider (ASP).
It is being re-introduced as a laboratory informatics SaaS (software as a service) offering Web 2.0 technology with a choice of Lims, scientific and business applications along with a hosted suite of developer tools.
The new division uses the latest virtualisation technology and SAS70 Type II audited, ultra-safe data centre facilities to offer a range of informatics functions to labs anywhere in the world.
The Lablynx weblims.com currently offers over 35 hosted laboratory informatics and business applications.
The division launch marks the introduction of the SaaS model, which allows for reduction in user costs while providing a range of selectable, modular functions suitable for every lab, regardless of size or type.
The monthly subscription model allows start-up labs to become operational quickly.
The cost structure is designed so that weblims.com proves to be more cost-effective than traditional systems implemented onsite.
The hosted Weblims model also means users have access to several applications in addition to a Lims (or indeed instead of), including CRM, ERP, help desk, time tracking, accounting and many others, plus developer tools allowing users to modify software and build new applications.
