Spiral Biotech has introduced new software that adds automatic shutter-speed selection and other features to its Color QCount bacterial colony counter.
The software improves the instrument's ease of use and speeds its performance.
The added features allow the Color QCount to: automatically recognise and identify the entire spectrum of colours and distinguish among varying shades of a particular colour; define colour settings or range of settings; and optimise camera operations, including shutter settings to detect and eliminate potential problems caused by changes in lighting conditions.
Other improvements include the addition of 'plug and play' functionality with other laboratory devices and a one-touch set up for colony reading.
The Color QCount uses the latest digital Firewire technology to allow users to capture full-colour sample images.
It can break through the limitations of clustered colonies to deliver sharp, error-free plate counts.
The Color QCount's ease of use allows technicians to read plates quickly and efficiently.
The Color QCount is ideal for food and pharmaceutical research applications in which high throughput and precise characterisation of micro-organisms, such as salmonella, Listeria and E.coli, are essential.
