4 June 2009 - Biocote has announced record export sales for 2008/2009, with an increase of 173 per cent on the previous financial year. Delivering a comprehensive package of antibacterial technology, validation testing, expert microbiologists, clinical trials and marketing support, Biocote has secured contracts for Nigeria's Portland Paints and Products, Marmorin, a Polish manufacturer of composite sinks, and Masisa, a manufacturer of wood boards for furniture and interior architecture in Latin America, among others.
Biocote technology is based on silver, which is a safe, natural antibacterial, commonly used in wound dressings and surface-coated catheters to reduce the risk of infection.
The company works with a number of manufacturers of equipment and furniture to incorporate this technology into their products at the manufacturing stage.
Silver can be incorporated into a variety of materials including plastics, fabrics, paints, powder coatings and papers.
