Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced the handheld GLD Pro leak detector to identify gas leaks precisely and quickly.
The device is a highly sensitive instrument designed specifically for use with gas chromatography (GC) systems and their accessories, such as purge-and-trap systems.
The easy-to-use compact unit provides fast, contamination-free, leak detection.
Thermo Fisher Scientific said it offers a more reliable and convenient method than liquid leak detectors, which can contaminate the column and cause permanent damage to the stationary phase.
It is capable of detecting even the smallest gas leaks (<1 ml/min), and any leaks are indicated with both a LED light display and an audible alarm.
This makes the Thermo Scientific GLD Pro leak detector ideal for checking valves, fittings, and traps for leaks after maintenance, preventing damage to columns and sensitive detectors, improving analytical performance and minimising troubleshooting.
The GLD Pro leak detector employs dual thermistor technology, which then measures the ratio of the concentration of the probe and reference heat-exchange values and displays the results on a LED display.
The instrument's thin pencil-tip probe is designed to reach difficult and confined locations to pinpoint the exact problem location, as gas leaks from sealed components or systems can be subtle and difficult to isolate without proper equipment.
In addition, the handheld unit offers side grips for added durability and one-handed operation, and is available with a carrying and storage case.
