Heliatek has developed its organic solar cells, consisting of so-called 'small molecules' and organic dyes which are synthesised from hydrocarbons.
The cells are characterised by low cost, short energy payback time and inexhaustible availability of raw materials.
Modules are highly flexible and lightweight (0.5 kg/m), since the future product is going to be manufactured on foil substrates in a continuous vacuum-coating process.
Fraunhofer ISE has certified a power conversion efficiency of 6.07 per cent for a tandem solar cell using Heliatek's tandem-cell technology.
