GE Healthcare has announced the launch of AKTA avant, the next-generation AKTA liquid chromatography system for fast, scalable and high-quality protein separations in process development.
The built-in Unicorn 6 control system with integrated Design of Experiments (DoE) functionality is said to save time and increase productivity.
The advanced configuration, flow and pressure capabilities of AKTA avant enable the use of modern, high-flow Bioprocess chromatography media including Mabselect and Capto, which can shorten process times by days and provide cost savings.
The DoE tool integrated in Unicorn 6 allows the maximum amount of information to be obtained from a minimum number of experiments.
The Unicorn 6 control system also provides easy protocol transfer during scale-up and flexible method editing.
The system provides column recognition using Unitags, while storage of run data history provides traceability and operational security.
Bufferpro can save 30 minutes per buffer or per pH value with automatic on-line buffer preparation.
Compatible with Hiscreen columns, which are pre-packed with 19 different Bioprocess media and have a 10cm bed height, the system is suitable for method optimisation and parameter screening, saving time on in-house column packing and associated failures.
The system has a compact, modular design for quick and easy access and servicing.
In addition, a built-in climate-controlled fraction collector minimises local heating to allow overnight running of samples.
