Coherent has introduced a CO2 laser that offers reliability and a reduced cost of ownership for applications involving the processing of textiles, organic materials, plastics and thin metals.
The Diamond E-150 is a slab discharge CO2 laser that delivers 150W (at 1kHz repetition rate) at a wavelength of 10.6um, while offering excellent beam quality (M<1.2) and an output stability of less than +/-7 per cent.
Based on the company's G-Series platform, this laser incorporates advances in the radio-frequency power supply design to reduce part count by 70 per cent.
As a result, the Diamond E-150 is expected to deliver a meantime between failures of more than 60,000 hours and is backed by a 24-month warranty.
The combination of beam quality, fast pulse rise time, high peak power and reliability make the laser a market-enabling source for a range of processing applications, according to Coherent.
These applications include cutting textiles, natural leather, plastics and thin metals, converting plastic films and papers, ceramic scribing and wood engraving.
The compact size of the Diamond E-150 enables it to be used in a variety of settings and in systems small enough for the desktop.
