Gene Technologies, part of GRI, has announced that the GS4 thermal cycler, which is from the G-Storm range, has been licensed for PCR.
The G-Storm GS4 thermal cycler, with its four heating blocks, is suitable for laboratories struggling to cope with high-throughput work, according to the company.
Despite working with four thermal blocks, accurate and reproducible temperature control is maintained.
The GS4's automated heated lids take a few seconds to open and close to seal plates and tubes, maintaining optimum temperature and pressure distribution every time.
They also adjust height automatically for both plates (96 or 384) and tubes (0.2ml).
Each of the interchangeable thermal blocks within G-Storm GS4 has four independent temperature control sensors and eight peltier heating units.
The Active Sample Cooling (ASC) feature protects samples by keeping them cooled until the heated lid reaches its target temperature, thus reducing non-specific primer binding and extension.
The full-colour VGA 8.4in (21.3cm) TFT touch-screen display presents users with an interface that provides point-and-click or drag-and-drop programming and control using a stylus, pen or finger.
Simon Nicklin, managing director, said: 'We see laboratories increasingly looking to either consolidate their cycling stations or extend their throughput.
'The GS4 provides a quick and lasting "fix" to this problem and can be up and running almost immediately,' he added.
