Thermo Fisher will demonstrate the Niton XL2 handheld XRF analysers at the 2009 Northwest Mining Association Convention, from 2-4 December at John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino Resort, Sparks, Nevada.
Niton analysers are the instruments of choice for geochemical analysis.
They let users perform lab-quality analysis in an instant without leaving the site.
Bob Wopperer, director of marketing and business development for Thermo Scientific Niton analysers, said: 'With the launch of the Niton XL2, mining companies of any size can access a range of products that are engineered from the ground up to withstand harsh mining environments, reduce laboratory costs and improve efficiency.
'We now offer users the choice of an out-of-the-box field mapping option or the flexibility of seamless integration with their existing mapping packages.
'Either way, our analysers excel at storing results that are matched to GPS coordinates.
'Then these results can simply be downloaded to existing GIS and data-analysis packages.' Niton XL3 series XRF analysers are purpose-built for taking measurements anywhere, anytime, with accurate results available in seconds, saving significant expense in comparison with traditional laboratory testing.
These easy-to-use, non-destructive instruments provide integral and tamper-proof storage of all test results.
Multiple communication options are incorporated, including Bluetooth wireless, USB and RS-232 serial communication ports.
They also come as standard with Thermo Scientific Niton Data Transfer (NDT) software, a suite of data-management utilities that allows users to set operator permissions, print certificates of analysis to document results or operate the analyser remotely from a PC.
The NDT file format preserves and protects the data from each sample analysis, ensuring that this data is not unintentionally or intentionally compromised.
The Niton XL2 analyser replaces the Niton XLT range.
It is lightweight and rugged, ergonomically designed and features daylight-readable icons.
The Niton XL2 incorporates customisable menus for ease of use, multi-language options and a standard analytical range of more than 25 elements from sulphur to uranium.
It is particularly suitable for mine mapping, development and grade control where accurate elemental composition data is required across many samples.
Niton XL3 Goldd analysers deliver major improvements in sensitivity and measurement times, as much as 10 times faster than conventional Si-PIN detectors and up to three times more precise than conventional SDD detectors.
Easily analysing elements from magnesium to uranium, without requiring helium or vacuum purging for light elements (Mg, Al, Si, P, S), the Niton XL3 Goldd delivers fast and accurate analysis for intensive metals exploration, even helping to identify anomalies at or below the Earth's average crustal abundance.
Niton customers are served through corporate resources and a dedicated network of more than 70 distributors and 30 factory-trained service centres around the world to provide the most effective customer service possible.
