Southern Scientific has introduced the CRM-1, a micro-processor-controlled, stand-alone radon measurement system designed to provide unattended, continuous monitoring in industrial applications.
This laboratory-grade instrument is housed in a lockable, stainless-steel enclosure and provides fast, reliable measurements of radon levels in harsh conditions where a portable instrument would be unsuitable.
The CRM-1 is fitted with a high-sensitivity, Lucas-type cell radon detector through which the gas is drawn by a rotary vane pump.
It has a 16-bit micro-controller that provides user-programmable measurement intervals and alarms, an RS232 port and PC software calibration parameters stored in non-volatile memory.
It features a detachable control module and detector that allows for ease of maintenance and calibration.
Activity is displayed in Pico-Curies per litre or Becquerels/m3 on a back-lit alphanumeric display for easy viewing and an internal rechargeable battery maintains operation in the event of power loss.
