Coherent has launched the Verdi G series of diode-pumped solid state (DPSS) lasers, in both 2W and 5W green (532nm) versions.
By replacing the conventional gain medium with an optically pumped semiconductor structure, Coherent said it has made a more robust, wavelength-flexible and compact source ideally suited for scientific applications, including pumping.
The Verdi G series is said to meet the performance parameters of the industry-standard Verdi lasers based on conventional DPSS technology, but with a 50 per cent smaller footprint, lower price and operating cost, as well as the ability to use other wavelengths.
Coherent said this combination makes it an ideal source for pumping ultrafast and CW titanium:sapphire lasers as well as other scientific applications.
The all-semiconductor-based laser, powered by Coherent's AAA diodes and OPSL technology and coupled with the company's Permalign solder-down platform is available with a standard two-year/10,000-hour warranty.
