Randox Laboratories has announced that it produces true third-party quality control serum to guarantee independent performance assessment for diagnostic devices, methods and reagents.
The company said its controls are not biased or optimised to work with any specific instrument or reagent.
Laboratories using an instrument manufacturer or in-kit control will often receive a new control lot with each reagent lot, which can result in a large number of controls.
Using Randox means the laboratory can deal with one vendor for all purchases and will have fewer controls to stock, fewer invoices to manage and a reduction in shipping and distribution costs.
Randox added that its third-party QC also has an extended shelf life, which can eliminate the problems associated with batch changeover within the laboratory.
A Randox control lot can be used with multiple changes in reagents and calibrators, meaning laboratories can detect shifts that occur during the changeover process, allowing long-term monitoring and provided increased accuracy and cost-efficiencies.
