The Duran Group is offering the GL 45 stirred reactor following the success of the GLS 80 stirred reactor in 2009.
The GL 45 stirred reactor, with its stirring blades, allows better mixing through a media than with conventional magnetic steel bars, according to the company.
The technical construction of the reactor prevents any direct contact between the stirrer blade and the bottom of the bottle preventing any potential abrasion, which may occur using standard magnetic stirring bars.
The reactor enables the stirrer to be positioned in the centre of the bottle, where the drive is provided by any commercially standard magnetic stirrer, allowing operation over a range of different viscosities.
The stirred reactor itself is compatible with the range of the GL 45 connection system.
Hoses (1.6-6.0mm diameter) can be connected via the ports to enable media to be added or drawn off during the mixing process.
A sterile pressure equalisation (0.2m) can also be fitted as an option.
The unused ports can be closed off with a blank closure.
Two different types of interchangeable easy-to-use stirrers are available - paddle or anchor shapes.
The stirred reactor is available either as a set with the 500ml or as a set with the 1,000ml Duran GL 45 laboratory glass bottle.
Alternatively, individual components and spare parts can be separately ordered.
The complete system is autoclavable and all parts in contact with media conform to FDA guidelines.
