Spectro Analytical Instruments has introduced a high-performance mobile metal analyser.
The instrument is capable of rapidly determining the nitrogen content in duplex steels with spark excitation and quickly identifying low alloy steels using carbon in arc excitation.
The Spectrotest TXC25's compact, thin sample probe enables hard-to-reach sample areas such as bundled rods and bars to be easily analysed.
The lightweight device is suitable for steel stockists, importers, metal recyclers and quality control in metal producing and metal processing companies.
The mobile metal analyser's flexibility allows it to be used for testing finished products in industry.
The instrument is supplied with a rechargeable battery pack for cordless use.
Capable of high sample throughputs, the Spectrotest TXC25 is able to quickly identify austenitic and so-called duplex alloys where nitrogen is the only differentiation compared to other stainless or high alloyed steels.
By exchanging the standard sample probe with an optional special sample probe with integrated UV optic, the analyser is able to measure elements such as nitrogen, boron, carbon, phosphorous and sulphur.
A minimum difference in the nitrogen content of 500ppm is necessary.
Exchanging the sample probes is quick and easy.
The instrument, which can handle the analysis of all aluminium grades, is not only capable of identifying low alloy steels using carbon in arc excitation, but can also simplify the carbon analysis of L-grade stainless steels in spark mode.
The mobile metal analyser's standard probe can be used for quick grade identification with arc excitation as well as for a detailed analysis with spark excitation.
The result is shown on the integrated display after only three seconds in grade ID mode and after five seconds in the analysis mode.
To ensure high analytical performance with low detection limits, the analyser features an integrated array of temperature-stable optical components and offers ICAL, a single sample standardisation irrespective of the number of calibrations installed.
