CLC Bio has announced a partnership with Ion Torrent that will ensure data can directly flow off the Ion Personal Genome Machine sequencer into CLC Bio's Genomics Workbench or Genomics Server.
The Ion Personal Genome Machine sequencer is said to do a single run in about an hour, but Jonathan M Rothberg, chief executive officer and chairman of Ion Torrent, said scientists need user-friendly analysis capacity to maintain a high-speed workflow.
Ion Torrent uses a massively parallel semiconductor sequencing technology that detects nucleotide additions without using light, optics or lasers.
Instead, a base is called by simply detecting the release of hydrogen ions following nucleotide incorporation.
