Intertek has opened an Isotech Satellite Laboratory in Perth, Australia, servicing the oil and gas exploration and production industry in Asia Pacific for mud gas Isotubes and other gas samples.
This capability allows Asia Pacific and Australasia customers to receive quality data directly from Intertek without the high costs and delays associated with the shipment of gas samples to the US, according to the company.
The laboratory, located at Intertek Geotech, is said to be equipped with state-of-the-art technology - providing sophisticated gas-composition, carbon and hydrogen-isotope analyses.
The analyses are performed using gas chromatography (GC) and isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS).
The IRMS is equipped with an enrichment device for carbon-isotope analyses of light hydrocarbons at very low concentrations.
The laboratory uses a suite of calibration standards and quality-check processes equivalent to those of the Isotech headquarters in Champaign, Illinois, which ensures that Intertek Geotech results are directly comparable.
