NanoKTN has announced the first event from its Nanomed focus group, which will examine areas in which nanotechnology will and is already improving clinical healthcare.
NanoKTN's Nanomed focus group has been established to develop industry clinical partnerships, promote the benefits of nanomedicine in the clinical community, identify key areas of unmet medical needs that nanotechnology can address and ensure clinicians are engaged at the earliest stages of product development.
'This meeting will be the first event of the Nanomed focus group and will cover topics such as cardiovascular disease and cancer treatment, focusing on the opportunities that nanotechnology offers to improve patient care,' said Dr Mike Fisher, theme manager, Healthcare and Life Sciences, NanoKTN.
Key speakers at the event include Prof Alexander Seifalian, professor of nanotechnology and tissue repair in surgery, University College London; Shervanthi Homer-Vanniasinkam, Leeds General Infirmary, who will be delivering a presentation on nanotechnology in cardiovascular disease; and Dr Sarwat Rizvi from the Royal Free Hospital, who will discuss nanotechnology in breast-cancer treatment.
The Nanomed conference takes place on 8 July 2010 at the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead, London.
