Analytik has released the Microphazir handheld near-infrared (NIR) material analyser designed for rapid, non-destructive, on-the-spot analysis of a range of raw materials and finished products.
The second-generation analyser has undergone a full ergonomic redesign and is more compact and lighter than the original, now weighing 1.2kg (2.7lb).
With a rear LCD display and audio feedback, the dustproof and water-resistant Microphazir is said to offer the analytical capability of a full-sized laboratory near-infrared system in a self-contained, rugged, battery-operated handheld analyser.
A barcode scanner for input of sample ID and automatic reference collection and internal calibration ensure the Microphazir is suitable for use by expert and non-expert alike in a variety of application areas.
These include: pharmaceutical materials identification; anti-counterfeiting and adulterated product check; plastic and carpet recycling; narcotics and explosives screening; asbestos screening; paints and coatings; agriculture, and food and feed analysis.
New software capability includes a mixture analysis function allowing multiple libraries to be searched for improved analysis of unknown materials.
All existing Phazir libraries are fully transferable to the Microphazir including all pharmaceutical ingredients, narcotics, drug precursors and explosives for customs inspection.
The Phazir suite of analysers designed for plastics and carpet recyclers, asbestos screening, textiles, coatings and phthalates in PVC, for example, are also fully transferable to the Microphazir format.
Analysers based on near-infrared technology can benefit from the combination of multi-component quantitative and qualitative analysis rather than qualitative analysis alone.
Suitable for the analysis of solids, liquids, slurries and pastes, a selection of sampling accessories are available including vial holders and a fibre-optic interface and probe.
