Forensic services and DNA technology provider LGC Forensics has been working with the Science Museum in London to assist with a display in its 'Who Am I?' gallery.
The 'Who Am I?' exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about brain science, genetics and identity, including current technologies in everyday use in forensic science, as well as offering a display of new and developing techniques at the forefront of current scientific research.
One part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Battle of Fromelles in northern France, where thousands of soldiers met their death on 19 July 1916.
Modifications of modern-day forensic DNA techniques are on display, used by LGC Forensics to match DNA from potential relatives with samples extracted from soldiers' remains.
As well as viewing memorabilia and reminders of what these soldiers encountered, visitors can also learn how scientific techniques were adapted to help achieve positive matches of DNA.
