The Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (NanoKTN) has published its UK Nanotechnology Directory, a guide to the UK's micro and nanotechnology (MNT) sector.
The directory, featuring more than 400 organisations active in nanotechnology in the UK and available for free to anyone working within the MNT industry, provides information about research and development facilities and services.
As well as offering the potential to identify possible collaborative partners with specific expertise and technology, it will be used to promote UK businesses to a national and international audience, ensuring that competitors and potential investors and partners are aware of the UK MNT industry.
By identifying and supporting the UK's potential by working alongside organisations and promoting UK MNT facilities, the NanoKTN aims to further develop the MNT market.
Alec Reader, director of the NanoKTN, said: 'The UK Nanotechnology Directory not only raises the profile of organisations, it also offers the opportunity for collaboration and the exchange of information and ideas.
'To ensure that the UK benefits from the uptake of new technologies, it is important that we form a complete supply chain now and support industry and academia with the research facilities and manufacturing capabilities they require,' he added.
By producing the UK Nanotechnology Directory, the organisation aims to lower entry barriers and drive the widespread market development and exploitation of these technologies.
The NanoKTN is encouraging any individuals or organisations that work in the UK MNT sector to register as a member and to request a free copy of the UK Nanotechnology Directory.
Any organisations not already listed in the UK Nanotechnology Directory may register their details for the 2011 edition by visiting the online directory.
