New Brunswick Scientific has introduced the Celligen BLU, a bench-top bioreactor for high-density animal cell culture in research or production.
This bench-top bioreactor features pre-validated, pre-sterilised single-use vessels (5 and 14 litre) with an advanced controller, combining all the benefits of single-use technology with the performance and scalability of a stirred-tank design.
The Celligen BLU bioreactor contains powerful Reactor Process Controller (RPC) firmware that provides advanced process-management and monitoring capabilities.
An adjustable touch-screen monitor allows operators to easily set and monitor up to 32 process parameters, store up to 10 recipes for easy access and view up to eight parameters simultaneously on user-customisable trend graphs.
Built-in security features allow managers to set different levels of functionality for various operators and passwords, preventing unauthorised users from making changes to the system.
Three high-performance, assignable, fixed-speed pumps enable additions and harvesting.
Built-in controls are also provided for temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and three- or four-gas mixing.
Up to four Thermal Mass Flow Controllers (TMFC) for fully independent gas control are available for sparging and a gas overlay with TMFC or Rotameter is available for the independent control of gas entering the vessel headspace.
A range of accessories is available, including weight scales for measuring additions and vessel volume, gas analysers, supervisory control, and data-acquisition (SCADA) software and validation packages.
