Porvair Sciences has announced the Microseal - a budget-priced manual microplate heat sealer designed to meet the needs of low- to medium-throughput laboratories for microplate sealing.
The Microseal is said to be compact and easy to use, an ergonomic pull-down mechanism provides single-action heat sealing for a wide range of plates.
It uses a preset temperature of 170C, which is ideal for most common sealing applications, and offers dual LED status display of power and heating.
A built-in thermostat prevents overheating of plates.
Of the various methods for sealing microplates, heat sealing has become the preferred option as it creates an air-tight and chemically resistant seal without the need for adhesives to be applied to a plate.
