GE Healthcare has extended its range of Hiscreen prepacked chromatography accessories with four columns packed with Bioprocess media for fast, easy separations.
Hiscreen columns are packed with media, allowing repeated use with reproducible results.
The 10cm bed height is suitable for method optimisation and parameter screening (such as selectivity and capacity) and the columns can be connected in series to give a 20cm bed height.
Hiscreen columns have a small bed volume (4.7ml), reducing the cost of sample and buffer consumption.
The columns are made of biocompatible polypropylene that does not interact with biomolecules.
The four new columns are available prepacked with the following chromatography media: Ni Sepharose 6 Fast Flow (Ni FF); Blue Sepharose 6 Fast Flow (Blue FF); DEAE Sepharose Fast Flow (DEAE FF); and Butyl Sepharose High Performance (Butyl HP).
Purifying histidine-tagged recombinant proteins by immobilised metal affinity chromatography (IMAC) continues to grow in popularity.
Nickel (Ni2+) is the most used metal ion in such IMAC purifications.
Cibacron Blue 3G is covalently attached to Sepharose 6 Fast Flow matrix.
The blue dye binds many proteins, such as albumin, interferon, lipoproteins and blood coagulation factors, as well as several enzymes including kinases, dehydrogenases and most enzymes requiring adenyl-containing cofactors such as NAD+.
DEAE FF is an ion exchange chromatography medium and weak anion exchanger.
Butyl HP is a hydrophobic interaction chromatography medium, with small bead size resulting in high resolution and sharp peaks.
Hiscreen columns are compatible with peristaltic pumps and chromatography systems such as AKTA design.
They are part of GE Healthcare's process development platform, which offers tools to support all phases from condition screening (96-well Predictor plates) to full-scale manufacturing.
The same Bioprocess media is used in all formats, enabling easy and reproducible scale-up.
