Merck Millipore has introduced an all-in-one water purification system designed specifically for clinical analysers.
The Elix Gulfstream Clinical water purification system will provide up to 100 litres per hour and 2,000 litres of clinical laboratory reagent water (CLRW) daily.
The system includes Merck Millipore's Elix electrodeionisation technology, as well as improved reverse-osmosis cartridges.
These complementary technologies are intended to help extend the lifetime of the purification cartridges, thus reducing running costs.
Biomedical laboratories need to avoid costly downtime.
When problems occur owing to inconsistent pure-water quality, however, this can disrupt sample processing, halting or reducing a laboratory's output and incurring unforeseen costs.
The Elix Gulfstream Clinical system gives biomedical laboratories a reliable, constant source of pure water for their analysers, according to the company.
Water produced by the system meets the standards of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) for CLRW.
Sean Murphy, product manager for Merck Millipore Lab Water, said: 'The Elix Gulfstream Clinical system not only provides excellent water quality, it also helps laboratory managers to optimise the space in their labs.
'The all-in-one design and small footprint lets users install the system in limited space.
'Everything needed for operation is pre-installed in or on the system cabinet,' he added.
In a biomedical environment, fast and efficient service support is also necessary.
Merck Millipore claims that the Elix Gulfstream Clinical system benefits from the company's extensive service portfolio, which lets users opt for a service plan that matches their specific requirements and ensures professional, in-house and field service support when needed.
