Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) has introduced its double-quenched probe, to increase the accuracy and reliability of 5ft nuclease qPCR experiments.
This proprietary probe design positions an internal Zen quencher nine bases from the 5ft fluorophore, which when combined with the standard 3ft quencher, decreases background fluorescence and increases sensitivity.
Due to the incorporation of Zen, the initial background fluorescence signal is much lower, making subsequent changes easily detectable while assay sensitivity is increased.
As a result, low background is obtained, even at 40 base pairs or longer, thus increasing specificity without any loss in sensitivity or quenching efficiency.
This improved functionality is claimed to increase qPCR accuracy and sensitivity when compared to traditional probes.
