Glen Dimplex Professional Appliances (GDPA), manufacturer of the Lec Medical brand, has launched 12 counter-top and freestanding blood banks designed to offer energy efficiency and low running costs.
They are suitable for use in small, medium and large blood centres, hospitals, nursing homes, laboratories and operating theatres.
Each has a controller that fully satisfies MHRA guidelines and an LCD interface for ease of use.
The blood banks store the cooled blood using The Heart - an electronic temperature-monitoring system complete with digital display.
While the digital display monitors air and load temperatures, the LCD interface enables users to accurately change set temperature parameters.
For added accuracy, real-time probe tests are used to measure the air and load temperatures.
For improved security, a digital keypad and electronic key fobs prevent unauthorised access while open door, high/low temperature and compressor failure alerts and alarms are also present.
All models are specified by British blood bank managers to meet BS Standards BS4376-1-1991 and certified class IIa medical devices, as defined by MDD93/42/EEC ANNEX VI.
In addition, Lec Medical has ISO 13485 accreditation as a medical device supplier.
Designed to meet the strictest hygiene standards, all models feature a stainless-steel interior with rounded corners and fully removable drawers to facilitate ease and speed of cleaning.
Chart recorder, interior light, auto-defrost and triple-glazed glass on the non-solid door models feature as standard, as does RS485 and a one-port hole.
An optional communication kit with Ethernet and wireless connections will be available soon.
This range is designed to be both energy efficient and environmentally friendly, courtesy of the green refrigerant R600a used in most models and CFC-free foam in all.
To provide additional peace of mind, all models carry a two-year parts and labour warranty, as well as the backing of GDPA's extensive network of service engineers.
