Lumencor, a specialist in lighting solutions for the life sciences, has released the Sola light engine, a direct replacement for metal halide, HBO and xenon arc lamps.
The Sola light engine is said to offer access to solid-state illumination at a price comparable to most lamps, and is suitable for use with a range of life-science equipment, including fluorescence microscopes.
It produces continuous, powerful white light from 380nm to 680nm, allowing the user simple integration with existing filter cubes and hardware configurations.
The Sola can be controlled by any microscopy software and couples to all major brands of microscope via a 3mm liquid light guide and adapters.
Customers will not have to worry about arc lamp alignment, installation or replacement as the Sola requires no maintenance and the expected lifetime is more than 15,000hr.
Short warm-up time and superior stability mean that these are all usable hours with highly reproducible output power.
