Southern Scientific has introduced an X-ray QA and QC database software program that is designed to optimise the performance of Barracuda and Piranha X-ray multimeters.
The Ocean software solution is claimed to increase efficiency by simplifying and optimising workflow.
It allows radiographers to customise applications by planning X-ray measurements in advance, to create checklists, to add information as a pop-up window for a specific exposure and to include instructions to avoid mistakes.
The procedure is said to be as simple as placing a meter under the X-ray beam, making an exposure and viewing the results instantaneously.
The data can then be automatically transferred into a customised Ocean database or into an embedded Microsoft Excel worksheet.
Ocean runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 and is available in three versions.
According to the company, Ocean Display is the basic yet powerful version, while Ocean Connect has an extra facility in that it interfaces to Microsoft Excel and Open Office, providing the ability to produce spreadsheets and forms.
An extra capability offered by Ocean Professional is that it is able to take full advantage of Access Database for managing, archiving and reporting results, thus creating a powerful analytical tool producing specific reports with detailed analysis of X-ray measurements.
