Medline Scientific has introduced a M40 transport swab that is claimed to provide exceptional performance capability with the most diverse range of fastidious aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.
Such bacteria includes Bacteroides Fragilis ATCC DSM 15130 and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa ATCC BAA-427.
The manufacturing process of the M40 transport swabs extends the preservation of bacterial samples during transport to the laboratory, at room temperature and refrigerator temperatures for up to 48 hours.
These swabs feature a paperless plastic peel-pack system that is said to be an extremely safe method of maintaining and protecting pack integrity and sterility.
Other features and benefits include inert soft swab tips that are non-toxic to micro-organisms and patients, and lot number/expiry date plus tamper evident tubes to provide complete traceability and sterility.
Medline M40 transport swabs are CE marked as Class lla in accordance with the Medical Device Directive (MDD) 93/42/EEC (for transient invasive use) and comply with US NCCLS M40-A and German DIN 58942-4 standards.
They are available in a choice of Stuart Amies transport medium swab, or Amies transport medium with charcoal swab in pack of 50.
