British laser safety designer and manufacturer, Lasermet, has put together an introduction to specifying the parameters for a laser safety interlock control system
The interlocked laser safety control system comprises the interlock controller (ICS) and the following components - some of which are optional: an access door keypad, magnetic door locks, magnetic switches, emergency stop push buttons, emergency stop breakglasses, laser warning signs and all of the interfaces to the laser including power, laser interlock connector, laser shutters, switches, distribution boxes and more.
There are three options to control the output of the laser via the interlock controller and there are a number of procedures that a person responsible for laser safety must follow and these are all set out in this guide.
