Logis Tech Associates has announced details of its 2013 Msc course in biotechnology engineering.
A-1 Technical Training, a sub division of Logis Tech Associates, is a SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) accredited centre that delivers several flexible distance learning courses.
As part of its training programme, it is offering an MSc in biotechnology, designed to develop the skills needed at the interface of biology and engineering.
The intake for this is twice yearly; September and January. The course can also be taken full time (1 year) or on a part-time basis (2 years).
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Interpret data generated by bioanalytical methods
- Develop bioremediation strategies
- Design and evaluate strategies for biomanufacturing products
- Design protocols for genetic modification and analysis of organisms
- Conduct computer analysis of biological sequence data (bioinformatics).
The course is delivered using a series of lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions. All modules are assessed by in-course assignments.
Applicants should normally have an honours degree (at least 2.2) in an appropriate related discipline, corporate membership of an appropriate chartered institution or an equivalent relevant qualification.
Suitable areas include biology, biochemistry, chemistry or life sciences.
As part of the course, students must also complete an industrially related project.
This, along with the involvement of industrialists, practitioners and academics in the delivery of this course, ensures that it is relevant to the demands of the process manufacturing industries.
