Electrical switches and sockets are the latest items to become available with surface hygiene protection to combat the spread of disease carrying organisms
In the fight to help eliminate hospital acquired infections (HAI), and the general spread of disease carrying organisms through cross infection, white moulded electrical lighting and power accessories from Crabtree can now be supplied with BioCote advanced surface hygiene protection.
Anyone with infection on their hands, could, through the simple action of operating a switch with their finger, set in motion a potentially dangerous train of cross infection.
Bacteria deposited in this way can quickly multiply, transfer to the next person operating the switch and be passed-on through casual contact to other items of equipment and people, creating ever spreading sources of potential contamination.
This pernicious form of cross-contamination can occur not only in areas of high risk, such as hospitals and medical laboratories, but throughout the healthcare market including residential and care homes.
Areas of food preparation and processing can also pose similar risks. However, specifiers, suppliers and installers of 13amp socket outlets and lighting switches can now provide an effective answer to this particular problem.
Products in the Crabtree Capital and Rockergrid range can now be supplied with BioCote anti-microbial surface treatment which provides a full 24.7 protection.
The products available include both switched and unswitched 13amp socket outlets, together with fused connection units for power control.
These are complemented by plate switches for lighting control including the Rockergrid modular range of moulded rocker switches and face plates.
These products will be supplied in a 'clinical white' finish to identify them from other similar products in the range.
The BioCote hygienic treatment is incorporated into the moulding material and provides an effective, permanent protection which inhibits the surface growth of harmful organisms.
These can include the antibiotic resistant superbug MRSA (staphylococcus aureas), together with many other bacteria including E coli, listeria, legionella, salmonella etc This latest development is part of a continuous programme of innovation and evolution for the Crabtree range, ensuring that these products offer a combination of safety, performance and additional unique hygienic surface protection that cannot be obtained elsewhere.
The provision of advanced surface protection of plastic moulded products is only one of a growing portfolio of treatments available from BioCote.
Other substrates that can benefit from similar treatments include metal, wood, GRP sheets, fabrics and even paper/board materials, which can confer unique hygienic properties to manufactured products.
