Versatile 17-parameter blood test system uses acrylic manifold fitted with a combination of valves and peristaltic pumps
Radiometer Medical is a leading provider of blood gas analysis equipment.
When designing the ABL700, Radiometer aimed to create a system that would measure up to 17 parameters from just 95uL of whole blood: pH and blood gases, as well as any combination of oximetry, bilirubin, electrolyte, and metabolite parameters.
To achieve these levels of performance, Radiometer entered in to a joint development project with Carville.
Carville is a contract manufacturing company which specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of diffusion bonded plastic manifolds to clients operating in the medical and biotechnology sectors. Carville initially manufactured prototype manifolds for Radiometer.
These manifolds were tested and a final design achieved.
The finished acrylic manifold is fitted with a combination of valves and peristaltic pumps.
The manifold offers the Radiometer system several key benefits including: precise and consistent fluid volumes, improved reliability, easier maintenance and the ability to view blood samples or blockages in process.
