Hitachi Scientific Instruments has launched the entry level S-2600N/H SEMs with the specific intention of making the technique available to those working on restricted budgets
Available in conventional and variable pressure versions, the S-2600N/H scanning electron microscopes from Hitachi offer exceptional performance and feature a completely new graphical user interface (GUI) for extremely easy operation.
This new GUI organises operation of the microscope into just six easy to follow sections, which may be selected from a series of colour-coded tabs on the side of the display.
These tabs cover basic set-up conditions, capturing and displaying the image, image processing, archiving images and printing them out.
The instrument is packed with automatic functions to simplify operation, and a newly introduced continuous autofocus/autobrightness and contrast mode helps the most inexperienced user to obtain top quality images.
Even a computer aided animation has been provided to guide the user through routine maintenance routines.
The S-2600N/H are high performance, versatile instruments with an accelerating voltage of 0.5 - 30kV and a resolution of 4.0nm using the secondary electron detector in the conventional version and 5.0nm using the backscattered detector in the variable pressure version.
With an integral comprehensive image filing and processing system, images can be displayed in a variety of ways, including split screen and 4 x 1/4 size images.
Images may be captured and displayed at a resolution of up to 1280 x 960 pixels as standard, or optionally to 2560 x 1920 pixels.
Images may be printed on a high quality video printer and an automatic report generator is also included to allow the user to produce high quality reports directly from the instrument.
