Contract research organisation CB Research and Development has installed vacuum pumps from KNF Neuberger in its six laboratories because it found them to be the most cost effective
The company provides an organic synthesis and research service to the pharmaceutical industry and, according to Jack Church, facility manager at CBRD, realised the advantages of KNF pumps two years ago.
"At that time, the majority of our pumps were a different brand, with only a few from KNF.
"As facility manager, my team and I are responsible for the maintenance and repair of pumps and we soon noticed that the pumps from the other brand were constantly breaking down but those from KNF were not. "Pumps take some abuse in our laboratories and we had to replace diaphragms and parts of the other pumps almost weekly, but the KNF pumps withstood everything well and the maintenance on them was easy.
"The difference between the two was as clear as night and day so it was an easy decision to change to all KNF pumps".
The KNF pumps are more expensive than CBRD's old brand, but Jack believes there are obvious cost savings.
"We have less downtime, less time spent on repairs and no need to stock expensive repair kits like we did before. "We look for equipment that's not going to cost us money to run and I really believe that KNF pumps save us money in the long run."
