Now up to 21 UK users for combined slide preparation system which includes fast glass-on-glass coverslipping system and optimised staining operation
Developed by Leica Microsystems for routine or specialist applications in histology and cytology, the fully linked and automated ST5020 multistainer and CV5030 glass coverslipper multistation has just been installed at Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
This brings the numbers of users of this recently launched combined slide preparation system to 21 in the UK alone. Said to be the only truly integrated automated staining/coverslipper workstation available on the market today, the ST5020/CV5030 multistation provides a highly flexible system with walk away convenience, saving valuable staff time and enhancing laboratory productivity.
Following the completion of any one or a combination of up to 50 onboard staining programmes on the ST5020, slide racks are transported by an innovative robotic arm to the CV5030 coverslipper.
This completely removes the need for any manual handling of racks between the two systems creating a safe and efficient working environment.
The combined ST5020/CV5030 multistation is exceptionally easy-to-use, says Leica.
Smart software features provide a user friendly interface and real-time process representation on a colour-touch screen. Staining quality on the ST5020 is also optimised and standardised using FDA-approved routine or special staining protocols which can be performed alone or in combination.
Programmes can also be started automatically using patented CodeRack technology, based on a colour-code system it automatically assigns racks to the correct staining protocol and significantly reduces potential user errors.
The Leica CV5030 glass coverslipper readily adapts to the specific requirements of varying samples such as histology sections, cytology smears and monolayers.
Taking only nine seconds per slide, the CV5030 is one of the fastest glass-on-glass coverslipping systems currently available.
The coverslip station accepts different mounting media, coverslip sizes and brands.
Coverslip sizes are identified automatically and broken coverslips are detected immediately during processing thus ensuring trouble-free function of the instrument at all times.
The Leica ST5020/CV5030 multistation is described as exceptionally flexible and can be fully adapted to meet and totally automate the slide preparation needs of any individual cytology or histology laboratory.
Due to the modular nature of the ST5020/CV5030 system and the flexibility of Leica Microsystems's technology, the CV5030 will also accept staining racks from virtually all routine slide stainers.
