Each model in the Milli-Q water purification system range is designed to produce ultrapure water to match specific applications: general laboratory analyses, chromatography, molecular biology, life sciences or trace element analysis.
For each of these systems a selection of purification cartridges is available, tailored to the pretreated feedwater source or to the specific application to produce the required quality of ultrapure water.
Q-Gard pretreatment packs are matched to the pretreated feedwater source: Q-Gard 1 is suited to Elix (RO-EDI), RiOs (RO) or distilled feedwater and Q-Gard 2, with additional activated carbon for organic adsorption and a filter for particulate removal is suited to DI feed.
There is also a selection of Quantum polishing cartridges, tailored to particular application needs.
The Quantum IX cartridge is designed to specifically target ionic contaminants, the Quantum EX cartridge to reduce ionic and organic contaminants down to trace levels or the Quantum VX cartridge removes volatile organics.
Additionally the Milli-Q Gradient and Synthesis systems contain a built-in dual-wavelength UV lamp to further reduce organic contaminants to <5ppb and the Milli-Q Biocel and Synthesis systems contain a 5000 Da NMWL cut-off ultrafilter for the removal of endotoxins and nucleases.
Final purification is carried out by a 0.22um Millipak membrane filter to remove any remaining particles and bacteria.
