The awards, which were launched in 2003, are designed to recognise and reward those who are making a real difference to improved standards of infection control within hospitas worldwide
The 2004 Oxoid Infection Control Team of the Year Awards are now open for entry.
The 2003 awards were a tremendous success, says Oxoid, with over 50 entries received from 15 countries.
The first prize winner was Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Hospitals Trust.
The first prize, a commemorative trophy and a cheque for £5000, will allow the winning team the freedom to choose how they should be rewarded, whether with a team-building event, training or perhaps they will use the money to cover travel expenses to conferences and seminars of interest.
Second and third prize winners will receive certificates and £1000 and £500 respectively.
The judges may also, at their discretion, make Highly Commended awards for particular achievements. Representatives from the award winning teams will be invited to receive their prizes at a celebratory dinner to be held in summer 2005.
The closing date for entries into the awards is 28 February 2005.
To enter, provide a summary (maximum 2000 words) explaining the infection control challenges faced in your hospital and how team members respond to these challenges; describe the results of your work and how this has made a difference to your patients and hospital.
